211 Impact Alabama and Wallace Community College have teamed up to help area residents get the most out of their tax refund.
Last year the group filed almost 7000 in returns, and gave participants close to 700,000 back.
But since the service is free, those who filed with the group were able to put more money back into their pockets.
“This is a free service so all of the money they would have spent at a commercial tax preparer which can be upwards of $300 a return which is just outrageous for that, they can save that money and actually get their full return,” said Katelyn Wilbanks.
The free service will run through April 12 at the Houston Love Memorial Library.
To schedule an appointment you can call 1-888-99-tax-al.
Walk-ins are also welcome.
