Marshall Space Flight Center

The number two manager at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama has been called to Texas.

He's going to be NASA's chief liaison for teams investigating the Columbia disaster.

Dave King, deputy director of NASA's Huntsville facility, was one of six Marshall officials who went to Texas within hours of the Columbia Space Shuttle disaster on Saturday.

The 41-year-old King was chosen because of his 20 years of experience with the shuttle programs.

King will be a link between NASA and the various federal, state and local agencies investigating the disaster.

NASA officials said five other Marshall teams are in Texas investigating hardware and work done on shuttle items such as the external tank and the space shuttle main engine.
