Alabama State Troopers say at least ten people were killed in traffic accidents over the 78-hour New Year’s travel period.
The Department of Public Safety said fatalities were reported in Baldwin, Chambers, Franklin, Houston, Shelby, St. Clair and Sumter Counties.
State troopers had estimated 16 people would die in accidents over the holiday weekend that began at 6 p.m. Friday and ended at midnight Monday night.
