A car chase in Dothan has left a police officer injured.
Police Chief John Powell says 24-year-old Michael Earl Walker surrendered to investigators Tuesday afternoon, but earlier he fled and got away after a chase.
Walker is charged with theft of property.
Part of the chase was captured on tape.
Chief Powell says Walker was caught in the act of stealing some wheels off a car. But the suspect jumped in a car and took off with Officer Jason Weed in pursuit.
Walker eventually bailed out of his car on Montana Street and Officer Weed tried to chase him down on foot.
Weed tripped and struck his head on a rock and Walker got away.
Chief Powell says Officer Weed will be okay.
Walker was free on bond for burglary at the time of the latest offense. Prosecutors will now try to revoke Walkers bond in that case.
Bond for the theft charge has not been set.
