The City of Level Plains has a police force once again.
The entire department was laid off about a month ago after lack of funds for its gas budget.
The Monday morning heavy rains didn't stop Level Plains Police Officers on their scheduled rounds.
Due to a budget shortfall, Mayor Tim Jackson laid off the department nearly a month ago.
But after several outstanding bills were paid, Retired Army Military Police Officer Lanice Bonds was hired as the new chief.
At this time, Chief Bonds has hired back three of the laid-off officers.
The city has a population of around two-thousand residents.
Level Plains Police say they appreciate the support of the community for helping them get back on patrol.
