One of the four soldiers killed in last Thursday's helicopter crash in Afghanistan was a career soldier who grew up in Ozark.
Four soldiers were killed when the UH-60 Blackhawk went down near the Bagram Air Base.
Chief Warrant Officer Mark O'Steen was born in Wytheville, Virginia, but grew up in Ozark and graduated from Carroll High School.
His late father had been stationed at Fort Rucker before he retired.
His mother, Vivian O'Steen, who lives in Ozark, said her son was an "all-American boy and a great soldier who loved to fly."
Mark O'Steen was on his third deployment to Afghanistan.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
