Florida Tourism

Officials are hoping to prevent another large decrease in visitors if the U.S. goes to war with Iraq.

Tourism dropped dramatically after Sept. 11, especially among international travelers.

"Visit Florida," the state's tourism advertising agency, now has short- and long-term marketing plans in place in the event of war or new terrorist acts.

Spokesman Tom Flanigan said the agency is preparing a "unified" response.

Florida implemented an aggressive tourism plan following the Sept. 11 attacks. Within a year, the number of visitors to Florida was almost back to normal.
