Riley's Salary

Alabama Gov. Bob Riley says he has no plans to cut his $101,432 annual salary for being governor.

But he said he's still considering a campaign promise to surrender part of the salary he received last year as a member of Congress.

Across the country elected officials such as Republican Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts and New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg are sacrificing some or all of their government pay because of lean budget times.

Gov. Riley's press secretary said the governor has yet to decide how much of his 2002 congressional salary he will surrender to the federal treasury, but the governor assures he will keep his campaign promise.
