For four years now, community leaders have honored young students who make a difference in the community. Some big names filled Dothan High School's auditorium Saturday to honor the volunteer work and dedication those students contributed to the wiregrass. Advocates honored more than 60 students from Dothan City Schools. The community wanted to give our youth the confidence and motivation to succeed. Tami Culver -- president of the Dothan Education Foundation -- said the community needs to come together to support our students.

"The community really needs to get behind our students to make sure they are successful. they cant do it without us. Role models are very important so take the time to spend with your child and tell them 'what your doing is important , let me tell you why',” she explained.

The awards banquet honored all races and all ages. The inspiring guest speaker was Pittsburgh Steelers defensive end, Steve McClendon. Each student received a certificate honoring their high achievements in academics and community service.
