A Houston County man charged with capital murder will stand trial as an adult.
21-year-old Carl Powell of Ashford applied for youthful offender status.
He’s accused in the shooting death and robbery of a Dothan man.
The body of Lewis Argwayo was found just inside the doorway of his home in July of last year.
If Powell had been granted youthful offender status, his maximum sentence if convicted would have been three years in prison. Now, he faces the death penalty.
The case is set for trial next May.
