Enterprise-based Navigator Corporation has taken a traditional teleconference and made it into a telepresence.
The video cutting-edge facility is located on the first floor of the downtown Rawls Hotel.
A company representative says the communication adds a human factor with eye-to-eye contact on both ends of the camera even though each of the parties may be thousands of miles away.
With the skyrocketing price of fuel, and air travel, video telepresence appears to have a market in both the public and private sectors.
"It is not the fact we're in contact with North Carolina, London, or Turkey. It’s the fact that they must call here in Enterprise to get the system going. It really puts rural America on an even playing field to compete globally," said Sean O'Brien with Navigator Corporation.
Navigator Corporation has branch offices across Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
Telepresence technology is expected to be used in communication between the Pentagon and the military leaders in Iraq and Afghanistan.
