A man convicted of killing a Pike County resident during a high-speed chase was sentenced Monday in Dothan.
21-year-old Phillip Lutz was found guilty of murder in April. Prosecutors say Lutz led police on a chase from Florida into Alabama in July of last year.
The chase ended when Lutz crashed his truck into a car and killing 66-year-old James Williamson of Goshen.
Judge Ed Jackson sentenced Lutz to 18 years in prison.
Defense attorneys plan to appeal the case.
