2 Die in FL Panhandle Crash

DESTIN, Fla. (AP) -- Two people died early Tuesday morning in a crash in the Florida Panhandle.

Okaloosa County Sheriff's officials say the crash happened about 3 a.m. at the intersection of Danny Wuerffel Way and Highway 98 in Destin.

Officials say the drivers of both vehicles were killed. There were no passengers in either vehicle. According to a press release from the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, Joseph Richard Tyrell III, 23, of Crestview, and James Bennett, 42 of St. Petersburg Florida, were the two men killed in the crash.

Investigators say Tyrell was driving a white Mazda, which collided with Bennett’s Chevy Blazer.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
