2 Arrested in Andalusia Pharmacy Robbery

ANDALUSIA, AL - On 05-14-2014 at approximately 9:55 PM, the Andalusia Police Department was notified of a Burglar Alarm at Fred’s Pharmacy located at 224 S Three Notch Street. Officers arrived on scene to find a broken window in the front of the business from which entry was made into the business by at least one burglar. Taken during the burglary was a large quantity of narcotic medications. On 06-05-2014 at approximately 11:35 PM a second burglary occurred at Fred’s Pharmacy with entry into the building being made exactly the same way as on 05-14-2014. Taken during the second burglary was a large quantity of drugs including narcotic medications.

With information from a good citizen informant, a suspect was developed of 29 year old Tony Randall Stewart of Andalusia. On 06-06-2014 Investigators with the Andalusia Police Department and the Covington County 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force working together were able to locate Stewart and obtain an admission from Stewart as having committed both burglaries and thefts at Fred’s Pharmacy. Tony Randall Stewart was arrested on two counts of Burglary Third Degree and two counts of Theft of Property Second Degree and placed into the Covington County Jail on $200,000 bond.

A search warrant was executed on 06-06-2014 at Stewart’s residence located south of Andalusia which yielded a large quantity of drugs/medications that were taken from Fred’s Pharmacy. Tony Stewart’s wife, Lannette Nichole Stewart, 27 years old, had concealed these drugs/medications in a wooded area behind their home before officers arrived to execute the search warrant. Lannette Stewart was arrested and charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence and placed into the Covington County Jail on a $3,000 bond.

This investigation is on going and additional arrests may be forthcoming. The Andalusia Police Department would like to thank the 22nd Judicial Drug Task Force and the local Alcohol Beverage Control Board for assistance in this case.
