PALATKA, Fla. (AP) - A 10-year-old boy remains in critical condition in a north Florida hospital after being shot in the head.
The Putnam County Sheriff's Office reports that the boy was shot early Sunday morning by a 14-year-old friend. The two were playin with a pistol at the victim's home in Palatka when a shot was fired.
Officials say it appears to have been an accident. An investigation continues.
The gun belonged to the victim's parents. It's not clear how the boys got a hold of it. The parents were not home at the time of the shooting.
The boy's name is not being released because of his age.
