Dothan city schools are doing more to get parents involved in their child's schoolwork. Thursday night, Girard Middle School is hosting a supper and a meeting for parents. This will not only help the parents, but the students and teachers as well.
Pam Hardy helps 6th graders learn math, reading and science every day. Now she wants to help teach parents how to help their children with school work at home.
At the meeting, the parents will split into different age groups so the parents can learn exactly what their child is studying.
The teachers will give parents tips on how to teach students at home and different websites they can use.
The first nine weeks teachers focused on reading.
Ms. Hardy says you can definitely tell a difference in the child's confidence with support at home.
The teachers have put a lot of work into the parent involvement program and they hope you'll come and get involved.
The meeting will begin Thursday night at 5:15 p.m. with a dinner and then the meeting begins at 6 p.m.
It is being held in the lunchroom at Girard Middle School.
