A scuba diver at Blue Springs Recreational Area in Jackson County, Florida has lost their life.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s office received a 911 call around 12:37 a.m. Monday morning from a scuba diver who said that her diving partner, 41-year-old Joel Tubbs from Oakmans, Alabama was in distress and not breathing.
The lead diver says that they were both okay when entering the cavern at Blue Springs but after going a short distance she turned to check on Tubbs and found him unresponsive at the ceiling of the cavern, which was still under water.
She immediately pulled him to the surface and brought him to shore. Paramedics attempted life saving measures but were unsuccessful.
Autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
