Nearly 170 members of the Alabama Army National Guard's 1203rd Engineer Battalion will return to home Sunday afternoon after spending nearly a year in Iraq.
A welcome home ceremony for the unit members is going to be held at 5 p.m. Sunday at Fort Buntin-Parsons armory on Third Avenue in Dothan.
The unit left Dothan in June 2007 for an intensive training period before deploying to Iraq.
In Iraq, the 1203rd served as a command and control battalion headquarters for four engineer companies that had more than 1,000 personnel.
The 170 members of the 1203rd are among more than 13,300 Alabama Army and Air National Guard members who have mobilized since 9/11.
