An Army lieutenant colonel from Panama City, Florida has been killed in an explosion while serving in Iraq.
40-year-old William Wood was responding to a bomb explosion Thursday and was killed on the scene by a second explosion.
He was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia and was commander of the First Infantry Battalion of the 184th Regiment for the California Army National Guard.
He graduated from Rutherford High School in 1979 and is survived by his wife and daughter.
