Students and professors have been digging up dinosaurs from ancient history in Western Dallas County here in Alabama.
They're searching for fossils from an era when dinosaurs roamed the earth.
Last week, Auburn University graduate student Jason Schein found the vertebra of a 40-foot long prehistoric lizard.
Scientists said Central Alabama was a shoreline where mosasaurs swam in warm salt water as they looked for something to eat. Mosasaurs grew to as long as 50 feet with rows of razor sharp teeth.
Paleontologist Ed Brooks said they're finding everything that you would see on the bottom of the ocean, including sharks, fish and sea turtles.
