Dothan Power Line Snaps

Gusty winds may be to blame for a power failure Monday in Dothan that also touched off a grass fire and tied up traffic.

It all started around 9:30 at the intersection of Hartford Highway and Ross Clark Circle.

A power-line snapped, setting off a small grass fire that firefighters quickly brought under control.

Power was knocked out over several square blocks and police had to direct traffic through major intersections.

Dothan utility officials said about 750 homes and businesses were affected by the outage.

Power was off about one hour.
