Baxley's First Day

Alabama's first female lieutenant governor presided over the state Senate for the first time Wednesday. Lucy Baxley says it was "totally fascinating." Baxley says she knows some days will be totally frustrating, but for now, she's enjoying her new job.

Baxley says the job of lieutenant governor is very different from when her ex-husband, Bill Baxley, held it 20 years ago. Back then, the lieutenant governor had much more power and was personally involved in many of the political battles in the Senate. Today, the lieutenant governor has much less power.
