A woman accused of killing her own baby was back in a Dothan courtroom on Monday, one week before she is scheduled to stand trial. 22-year-old Tierra Gobble is charged with capital murder in the death of her son. 4-month old Phoenix Parrish had a fractured skull, broken ribs and two broken wrists.
Gobble's attorneys claim she cannot get a fair trial in Dothan because of pre-trial publicity. A jury selection expert testified this morning that more than 60 percent of the 340 people she contacted knew about the case from news media reports. She also said 40 percent believe Gobble is guilty. However, Judge Lawson Little refused to move the trial.
Jury selection begins on Tuesday, and opening arguments will be heard next Monday.
