Inmate Found Dead in Houston County Correctional Facility

(Dothan, AL)--The Houston County Sheriff's Office is awaiting autopsy results for an inmate found dead in his cell.

"Floyd was being held in the medical part of our facility, where a deputy did periodically check on him,” Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said. "Just after 11:00pm is when the officer noticed Floyd was dead," he said.
 

According to authorities, 53-year-old Donald Ray Floyd had outpatient surgery yesterday afternoon and was returned to jail after being cleared by a doctor.

"Floyd was being held in the medical part of our facility, where a deputy did periodically check on him,” Houston County Sheriff Andy Hughes said. "Just after 11:00pm is when the officer noticed Floyd was dead," he said.

Authorities say no foul play is suspected in this case. Floyd was being held on a felony charge.
