Dale County Helicopter

The Dale County Sheriff's office unveiled its new helicopter at U.S. Helicopter in Ozark Tuesday.

The helicopter can also be used to assist surrounding law enforcement agencies to find missing people and fight crime.

The chopper is a refurbished 1972 Model OH58. It was once used as an Army Scout Aircraft. After restoration by U.S. Helicopter, it is now equipped with high tech surveillance gadgets. Some of the new features include a moving map GPS Locator System and a power searchlight.

With the new chopper, authorities will also be able to find missing Alzheimer's patients who wear the Project Lifesaver bracelet.

Dale County Sheriff Bryant Mixon said the chopper cost the county $10,000, but it would not have been possible without U.S. Helicopter.
