An investigator with the Houston County Sheriff's Department has become the focus of a criminal investigation.
Sergeant Ricky Ducker could face felony charges. The case involves thousands of dollars in stolen merchandise.
Dothan Police spent much of the day Tuesday searching Ducker's property in Avon. They confiscated hunting equipment and accessories worth thousands of dollars.
Ducker once worked part-time at southern outdoor sports in Dothan, but owner Ronald Fuller says Ducker was let go in May.
Fuller says two law enforcement officers who bought hunting bows from Ducker did a routine check on the serial numbers and discovered the equipment had been stolen. That led to a joint investigation.
Fuller says the value of the missing property could top $20,000 and the case almost put him out of business.
Ducker is a 24 year veteran of the Houston County Sheriff's Department and he's currently suspended with pay.
Sheriff Glover is out of town but is expected to make a decision on Ducker's future Monday.
Ducker and his attorney are scheduled to meet with investigators at Dothan Police headquarters this morning (Friday).
