American Red Cross Mid-South Chapter began offering special credit cards Monday to Hurricane Katrina evacuees to make their stay in Memphis as convenient as possible.
Along with providing immediate assistance to evacuees, the chapter is also distributing client assistance cards.
These cards work exactly like a debit card.
They can be used to buy food, clothing, and other supplies anywhere credit cards are accepted.
American Red Cross says they are processing as many as 500 applications a day.
