A series of recently taken pictures show blankets, bed sheets and other objects being flushed down commodes. It has caused more than $20,000 damage to the septic system at the Coffee County Jail.
Jail officials said it's difficult identifying who the culprit or culprits are. Elected officials said one thing is for sure -- the taxpayer will be left holding the bag.
Sheriff Moates said many of the problems have been caused by state prisoners being held at his facility. But, the state continues to remove these inmates from Coffee County.
Officials said they'll continue to try to identify the troublemakers. The offender would then lose his privileges.
In the near future, the Coffee County Commission is expected to hold a workshop on what can be done to minimize inmate destruction of public property.
