The man accused of killing a young couple in a Clayhatchee car wreck will be sentenced in just a few weeks.
The accident happened less than a year ago and now their killer is facing life in prison.
Michael Duffy, Jr. and his girlfriend, Megan Halstead died on October 16, 2004.
They were both in their early 20's and were coming home from a friend's birthday party, when they were involved in a head-on collision.
Sherman Walden was under the influence of alcohol and marijuana when he veered off Highway 85, swerved back onto the road, then smacked into the couple's car.
He plead guilty to two counts of murder in an August 22nd hearing and is still recovering from his own injuries.
The Duffy’s are now seriously advocating against driving under the influence. They want their tragedy to help make a difference in other people's lives.
Walden will be sentenced September 29th by Judge McLaughlin at the Dale County Courthouse.
His maximum punishment could be life in the state penitentiary.
