School Tax

Dothan School Superintendent Leon Hobbs is scheduled to make a presentation outlining the need for additional revenue during the commission's regular meeting.

Houston County voters go to the polls Feb. 4 to approve or reject a five-mil property tax increase or a half-cent sales tax hike.

The additional revenue would be divided between the Houston County and Dothan City School Systems.

Local education officials said they're just trying to get back what they've already lost due to proration.

Houston County School Superintendent Kenneth Lord is scheduled to address the county commission in a couple of weeks.
