Five Wiregrass students who claim to be part of a gang are facing serious punishment after reportedly attacking an Abbeville student.
Abbeville High School sophomore Jeremy Carruthers was beaten at a Headland High School pep rally Thursday night.
Those found to be involved in the incident are now being punished with alternative school sentences or expulsion.
Henry County School Superintendent Dennis Coe says this was an isolated incident.
Coe says "The schools are safe. We do have appropriate supervision at all of our activities and all these that were involved in this incident have been barred from coming back on campus and they need to understand that if they return to campus, we will have them arrested for criminal trespassing."
Jeremy Carruthers’s father tells News 4 he plans to press charges against all students involved.
