Its one of those crimes that makes you shake your head in disgust. Police say two robbers confronted a 10-year-old Montgomery boy, pulled a gun and took his puppy.
The fifth-grader was not injured in Monday night's incident near the downtown area.
The boy's father said his son was walking the two-month-old pit bull to show his grandmother when he was threatened by two males in a car.
He said the youngster was so shaken that he's now afraid to venture outside his house.
Lt. Huey Thornton, a police spokesman, said there's been a rash of pit bull thefts around the city. He said the dogs are either sold to individuals involved in dog fighting or to drug dealers who use pit bulls as guard dogs.
Thornton said investigators are looking for the two suspects.
