A Walton County sheriff's deputy is being cleared of criminal wrongdoing in the fatal shooting of a naked and unarmed intruder.
Sheriff's Captain Danny Glidewell says investigators are determining if an internal investigation should be conducted on whether Deputy Bradley Stafford may have violated agency procedures.
Investigators say Stafford shot and killed 22-year-old Travis Burns on February eighth after he kicked in a locked door at the officer's apartment. They then struggled and the intruder was shot once in the upper body with the deputy's police-issued handgun. The intruder also lived in the same apartment complex.
Deputy Stafford suffered a broken hand in the scuffle. He returned to duty after briefly being placed on paid administrative leave, a routine procedure in such cases.
