It’s expected that the 12-member jury will begin deliberations Thursday morning in the Steven Preachers murder trial.
Closing arguments got underway late Wednesday afternoon.
Preachers was charged in the beating death of his then girlfriend's child in June 2003.
Prosecution witnesses testified that the 31-year-old Samson man picked-up 21-month-old Angel Whitley by the legs and slammed her head first into a bedroom dresser.
The child died several days later from injuries.
District Attorney Kirk Adams told the jury Preachers killed the toddler when she wouldn't stop crying.
But, defense lawyers claim that the child's mother, Gail Whitley is the killer.
If convicted, Preachers could be sentenced to life in prison without parole.
