Crude oil prices edged to a new settlement record in New York, settling at 61 dollars, 89 cents a barrel.
One oil broker says the market continues to show concerns about recent refinery snags and weather forecasters' expectations of more hurricanes in the Gulf of Mexico.
In Alabama, the latest AAA survey of gas stations showed prices down about three-tenths of a cent, regular unleaded averages $2.17; midgrades are $2.32; and premium is $2.39 a gallon.
AAA said this time last week those prices were about two-cents higher. The auto club's survey of metro areas showed Montgomery with the cheapest price for regular at $2.13 a gallon. Huntsville was the most expensive at $2.19.
