Geneva County Sheriff Greg Ward says proposed budget cuts would destroy his department's efforts in making arrests.
Ward says the county administrator has slashed his proposed Fiscal 2006 Budget by $200,000.
He says that will most likely end the county's drug task force and a possible layoff in road deputies.
Sheriff Ward says continued jail overcrowding forced him to send female inmates to surrounding counties.
He says if anything, law enforcement's budget needs to be increased.
Sheriff Ward says those county officials who promote a cut in the law enforcement's budget should be held personally accountable to the public for the results.
