Dothan has a new city clerk, but the decision was not a unanimous one.
The majority of city commissioners did vote to promote from within.
Pam McCoy has been with the Dothan City Finance Department for more than 14 years, most recently, as assistant city finance director.
Commissioners James Redding and John Glanton voted against her appointment, but the rest agreed with City Manager Dennis Rubin's recommendation.
The salary for Dothan's new city clerk starts at just less than $70,000 a year.
Pam McCoy begins her new duties Jan. 13.
The Dothan City Clerk's position became vacant last month when Delma Lee retired after 30 years with the city.
