Testimony continues today in the Steven Preachers’ murder trial.
The 31-year-old Samson man is accused in the June 2003 death of Angel Marie Whitley.
At the time, Preachers was dating the 21-month-old's mother.
In his opening statement, defense lawyer Charles Blakeney said his client is not the killer.
But, pointed his finger at the baby's mother, Christine Whitley.
Blakeney said Mrs. Whitley killed her own child and then left the dead child with his client.
But District Attorney Kirk Adams says all the evidence will prove that Preachers is the killer.
Preachers reportedly confessed that he slammed the baby against a bedroom dresser because she wouldn't stop crying.
If convicted, he could spend the rest of his life in prison without the possibility of parole.
