The unofficial results for the Dothan City Commission election run-offs are in.
In District One City Commission race Larry Matthews received 454 votes and James Reading 449. For City Commission District Three, Paul Lee had 853 votes to Jerry Richards 433. WTVY News 4 spoke with both candidates, hard to tell which one was more excited - Paul Lee or Larry Matthews, who beat out an incumbent with just five votes.
Before the results were in, we caught Matthews and his now former opponent James Reading sitting just feet away from each other at Northview High School, one of the voting locations. And with that close margin of victory, maybe last minute campaigning made the difference.
Voters came out in full force for Paul Lee, beating his opponent Jerry Richards by some 400 votes.
Again we want to remind everyone that these are unofficial results - though it’s a slim possibility, things could change, especially in that close District One race.
The city of Dothan officials say if the losing candidate requests it, a recount is possible.
