You may be eligible for part of a $484 million settlement with a lending company that's accused of cheating customers on home loans.

All 50 states and the District of Columbia gave final approval to the settlement.

About 2,400 Alabama customers of Household International, one of the nation's largest lenders, may be eligible for refunds totaling up to $3.8 million of the settlement.

Household Finance is part of the Household International Corporation.

Household settled allegations that it overcharged borrowers on home equity and similar loans.

Each state will design its own consumer restitution plan since lending practices are different for many states.

Consumers will be mailed details on the plan in the next few months. You can also call 1-800-360-4316 for more information.
