Governor Bob Riley’s office announced a cash reward for information leading to the arrest of the person, or persons responsible for a series of unsolved arson cases in rural Coffee County.
Within a 24-hour period in May, three abandoned homes and a wooden bridge were all burned in Zion Chapel.
A wooden bridge outside of Elba was also burned down in January.
It’s believed that all the cases are related. Fortunately, no one has been injured.
Authorities say it may be just a matter of time before a home is burned down with someone inside.
At Monday’s Coffee County Commission Meeting, District Attorney Chief Investigator Dwight Holley announced that Governor Riley is offering a five-thousand dollar reward.
If you have any information on the unsolved arson cases, contact the Coffee County Sheriff's Department at 894-5535.
