An elderly Dothan woman is lucky to be alive after a Monday morning house fire.
Firefighters sifted through rubble from a house fire on Stonewood Drive.
It started in the garage about 4:30 Monday morning.
Ron Wilkins got a disturbing call from his 85-year-old mother screaming fire, fire, fire.
He ran down the street and found her house blazing.
She was “ok” and taken to the hospital for some smoke inhalation.
Luckily she woke up, smelled the smoke and was able to get out because the fire was on the other side of the house in the garage.
Neighbors came by the house to make sure no one was hurt.
Fire officials want to remind everyone to check their fire alarms so this doesn't happen to their home.
Ron’s mother had lived in the house for 14 years.
