Alabamians who want to contribute to Hurricane Katrina relief should give through well-known charities to avoid bogus groups.
Alabama Attorney General Troy King is warning that door-to-door con artists and telephone, e-mail and Internet scams might be on the rise.
Suspicious sites include:
King urge consumers to ask for credentials from solicitors, call the charity to confirm information and be wary of appeals that provide few details.
He said consumers can find more detailed guidelines and information by logging online at www.give.org the Web site for the Better Business Bureau's Wise Giving Alliance.
