Concern over advancement and hiring practices in the city of Dothan has triggered plans for an outside agency to get involved.
City Personnel Director Kai Davis, proposed hiring Morris and McDaniel Consulting Firm.
The firm would develop and use a promotional selection process for Dothan’s fire captain and police lieutenant positions.
This new move would cost the city $38,000 which would include consultation on each position and training of the candidate hired.
Davis says "$38,000 is a salary for an employee--at bare minimum, but they wouldn't have the industrial psychology, they wouldn't have the legal background. So I do think it's the most cost-effective way to go and it's--for management supervision-- I think it makes for a better candidate pool."
The commission will vote on whether to approve Davis' proposal next week.
