Gore Announcement

Former Vice President Al Gore, who came agonizingly close to winning the presidency two years ago, says he will not run again in 2004.

Gore's decision not to run opens the field to at least a half-dozen others considering a white house bid.

One of them is Gore's former running mate, Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut.

Other possibilities include Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle, Missouri Representative Dick Gephardt, Massachusetts Senator John Kerry, Vermont Governor Howard Dean and North Carolina Senator John Edwards.
