The Bush administration is pushing marriage.
The Department of Health and Human Services is giving more than $500,000 to states, religious, nonprofit and tribal groups for programs that advocate the benefits of a healthy marriage. The money comes from more than $2 million in federal grants to help enforce child support laws.
One group in Allentown, Pennsylvania, is getting money to provide marriage counseling to couples that aren't married.
Robert Boston of Americans United for Separation of Church and State describes the Bush administration's advocacy of marriage as "paternalistic." He said whether a person gets married and stays married is none of the government's business.
