Washington County authorities have discovered a body in an area behind a church near Vernon.
The body of a white male, about 60 years old, was found behind the cemetery of the Ebenezer Baptist Church on Holmes Valley Road, just South of Vernon on Thursday afternoon.
Visitors to the church found the body.
Investigators suspect that the body was placed near the cemetery during the last two days.
Washington County Sheriff Fred Peel has contacted other law enforcement agencies about their missing person cases.
