U.S. Senator Richard Shelby announced Wednesday that the U.S. Department of Justice will be releasing $35,130 to the city of Dothan for the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant, or "JAG" Program.
JAG allows states, tribes and local governments to support a broad range of activities to prevent and control crime based on the needs of communities.
These funds can be used for technical assistance, training, equipment and information systems for criminal justice in various programs, as well as planning, evaluation and technology programs.
The city of Dothan and Houston County will use these funds to purchase the "AFIX Tracker" or Automated Fingerprint Identification System.
