BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - A Jefferson County hairstylist who broke into a Homewood apartment to take sexual pictures of a sleeping 3-year-old was sentenced today to 14 years, 6 months in federal prison.
32-year-old Brian Clifton Phillips was given the sentence for three counts of production of child pornography.
U.S. District Judge U.W. Clemon ordered that the prison term be followed by seven years of supervised release. Phillips, a former hairstylist in Homewood, must also register as a sex offender, pay $6,500 in restitution and not have any unsupervised contact with any child under the age of 18.
According to a plea agreement, Phillips entered the apartment through the child's bedroom window last September and took pictures of himself committing and simulating various sexual acts with the 3-year-old, who was asleep.
The child's mother called police after she heard her daughter fussing and saying that a boy was in her room. Homewood police apprehended Phillips following a short foot chase.
