A convicted killer will spend the rest of his life behind bars.
Tony Evans was sentenced to life without parole under Alabama’s Habitual Offender Act.
He was found guilty in May of the 1998 murder of a Dothan woman.
Nacole Smith was stabbed more than 60 times.
Evans was serving time in prison for burglary when DNA evidence linked him to the killing.
But, while he was free on bond for the murder, Evans was charged with sex crimes involving an underage girl.
He was convicted and sentenced to life without parole for those crimes earlier this year.
